As we consider the challenges Moses encountered in leading the people of Israel in the wilderness and the Covenant God made with Moses that was conditional on His people’s obedience, in hearing His voice, heeding and obeying……….
In faith, let us Pray through God’s Word and encourage our hearts as we seek His strength, wisdom and Victory in Jesus as we pray through some fear challenges in our own lives as we imagine ourselves in this situation in Exodus 19 & 20:
Would we have trembled in fear, as the Israelites did in Exodus, when God was desiring His people to hear and obey His voice and keep His covenant with Moses as Mnt Sinai was covered in a thick dark cloud with thunderings and lightening and the sound of a very loud trumpet? Yet God expressed that they would be His special treasure to Him above all people, ‘for all the earth is Mine.’ He desired them to be His Kingdom of priests and a holy Nation. His plan was to give them His Commandments as a Marriage Covenant to His people of Israel.
We discover in Exod 20:18-21 that they shrunk back, stood far off and didn’t want to hear God’s voice but wanted Moses to hear from God for them. (How do we respond to God in threatening situations?)
20 Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”
21 The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
Let us explore how the writer to the Hebrews expresses God’s heart to His people in the New Testament who were being challenged by trials of their faith:
35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”
38 And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”
39 But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

Ps Jeff’s Special Today: “Wrath”
Proverbs 27:3 is right on point: “ A stone is heavy and sand is weighty, But a fool’s wrath is heavier than both of them.” We are “by nature children of wrath.” (Ephesians 2:3). Vengeance is for the Lord; He will repay. (Romans 12:19).
Patience, a key fruit of the Holy Spirit, cures wrath when one first understands the needs of others before acting or speaking. Ephesians 4:31 states: ” Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.”
BUT: Most important is avoiding the wrath of God. Jesus//Yeshua states to us in John 3:36: ” He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
But being candid with yourself and the Holy Spirit, is wrath an old issue needing to be confessed? And then repented of ? Do you think His Word is only for the disciples 2,000 years ago? Do you have any residue of wrath as an issue for such a time as this? Is this wrath connected to your upbringing as a child? Was it a family pattern in any way?
God bless you as you seek His Holy Spirit Wisdom on this vital issue. May you go forward on His path, “perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 7:1).
